Last night I rented Beauty and the Beast on Xfinity for my granddaughter, Emily. I think she has watched it 3 times already and we’re probably in for at least one more viewing today I’m sure. As I sat in my office working today, I could hear the movie playing. I remembered that my daughter’s boyfriend, Enissan, took Emily to see it when it came out in the theaters.
I just have to give kudos to Enissan who is not the biological father of my granddaughter but has been in her life since she was about 2 – 3 months old.
After Enissan took Emily to see Beauty and the Beast, they went to Wal-Mart to pick up a couple of things. Emily saw a toy, the rose in the glass dome and wanted it. It was a bit pricey so Enissan decided to make her one. They found the dome and a rose and came home and put it together – not that it took much effort – and Emily was so happy. She displays it proudly on her dresser.
Enissan is a FATHER; a father to a child that is not his biologically, and he is an AMAZING father. He takes her places and allows her to come with him to run errands. He cooks for her. He plays with her. He makes things for her and teaches her how to make things. They love doing projects together. He scolds her when she needs to be scolded (I don’t like it though. LOL). He does his best to guide her in decision-making. He does not limit her to “play like a girl”; he wrestles with her, teaches her jujitsu, has Nerf shoot-outs with her and lets her help when he is fixing things. He taught her to plank when planking was in and even crawled into the crib with her when she was having a bad night. They always have their special little times together. She adores him and he adores her.
So I just want to take a minute and acknowledge Enissan for all he does for Emily and for all he is to her! Thank you Enissan!!!

A father is not a father only by biological means. A father is also a father with care, compassion, and love.

So, so lovely and heartfelt. My soon to be hubby is good to my daughter too. If their father can’t do it right, what a blessing it is to have a good man step in and be the dad that these kids deserve. I know I am thankful. Thanks for sharing this!

Exactly! A good man can teach a child their value and raise them up to be healthy and happy even though they are not the biological father. I adored my step-father too!
