What inspires you?

I came across a quote this morning and it got me to thinking about inspiration.

“Waves inspire me… not because they raise high, but because they leap up again after falling.” Author Unknown

There are many things that inspire me and many people. I have learned over the years not to be too impressed with those around me who seem to have it all together and have beautiful homes, nice cars, wonderful families… They do not inspire or impress me any longer. I understand that looks/people are deceiving.

The people that truly inspire me are those who are honest about their struggles and not ashamed to share what they’ve been through. People who let you know they have had some ugly times in their life, yet have overcome their struggles or are walking through them, holding on to hope, and doing what it takes to be a better person or have a better life. They are caring, compassionate and encouraging. They are real and I can relate to them.
