Did I really just do that? Yep, I did!

Every once in awhile, I do something really, really, I mean REALLY stupid and yep, today was one of those days.  No, really, it’s true. Remember the call to the hospital? Well, this was just as bad.

I was actually sitting in my office (which is in the breakfast nook of my kitchen which faces the street) trying to decide what to write today for my blog. All of a sudden I hear a vehicle spinning its tires trying to tear off down the street. It’s been raining all day so the streets are wet and the noise this vehicle made trying to peel out was crazy loud. I looked out the window, because it was happening right in front of my house. I saw this silver vehicle speeding off down the street. There is a wooden fence in front of my house and I could see through the slats and even though I did not have my glasses on, I could see that my vehicle was NOT in my driveway! I instantly few into a panic!

“Oh my God!! Someone just stole my car!!”

“Oh my God!! They just stole it right out of my driveway!!”

So I ran back into my office and grabbed my phone to call 9-1-1. My poor granddaughter ran to my side, scared out of her mind.

I called 9-1-1 and told the operator that someone just stolen my car right out of my drive way. I gave her all the information and she said they would get it out right away and that an officer would be calling me back in just a bit.

E was shaking and on the verge of crying. She said she was afraid they were going to come back to our house and hurt us. I tried to reassure her that they had what they wanted and they wouldn’t be back. I paced around for a couple of minutes just trying to get a grip on myself. I could feel my blood pressure going up and my chest was getting tight. I tried to calm down and as I was on the verge of tears also.

Within 5 minutes of calling 9-1-1, my brain finally decided to kick into gear and I walked outside only to realize that I HAD PARKED MY CAR ACROSS THE STREET!  Now, who does that? I had to call 9-1-1 back and explain that my car wasn’t stolen. Talk about embarrassing!

This afternoon I had taken my granddaughter to lunch at Taco Bell. When we came home, I did not park in my driveway but across the street from my house. Well, I’m just going to be honest and let you know that the reason I parked across the street was a codependent one, but that’s all I’m going to say for now. Yep, today, codependency 1 – Terri 0.

    1. Thank goodness “not for long and not as often”! And I recognize when it does and what my motive is behind my codependent actions. Then I get the opportunity to make it right and hopefully not do it again. Hopefully. 🙂
